Description:
This 64,000-square-foot facility is the nation’s first public research university building dedicated to microbial and plant genomics. It is the most wired for technology of any building on either the Saint Paul or Minneapolis campus, and brings together faculty from six colleges to study genomics. The building was designed for a 50-year lifespan, and incorporates many Sustainable Design attributes. For instance, the building configuration allows for as much green space as possible. Lighting is solar- and timer-controlled for energy savings.
