Project: Minnesota Veterans Home Renovations
City: Minneapolis
State: MN
Architect: Ellerbe Becket
Owner: State of Minnesota
Completion: 1999
Value: More than $20M
Description:

The Minnesota Veterans Home has provided long-term housing and nursing
care to veterans since the Civil War. In the Spring of 1997, after more
than one hundred years of continuous service to American veterans, it
was the Veterans Home's turn for rehabilitative care. Shaw-Lundquist
worked with architectural firm Ellerbe Becket, Inc. to simultaneously update the facilities and maintain the building's historical integrity (in 1988, several buildings on the campus were nominated to the National Register of Historic Places). New HVAC, site work, landscaping and general infrastructure improvements were all part of the $25 million project. A turn-of-the-century steel arch bridge on the campus also received a face-lift.
